Thingie for the Month

I couldn't come up with a name that didn't sound disgustingly saccharine or inappropriately sarcastic (I know, I'm losing my touch) so let's just call it my thingie for this month. It's a blogging resolution for January, as it were.

As some of you may remember, Vicky and I got married towards the end of January 2006. This year we celebrate our fifth wedding anniversary. To mark the occasion, every day I shall post a line here about something that I really like or appreciate about the man. Even when I'm raging mad at him. And I shall not let those posts mock him in any way. No, not even the tiniest bit. Judging by this post, it can evidently be done -- I learn something new every day -- and it shall be done. Since I'm starting a week late, some of the days will carry extra appreciation.

The thing that I like about Vicky on 8 January 2011 is how he lets me 'borrow' his soft jute slippers to wear around the house while wandering around cold and barefoot himself.

The other thing I like about Vicky today is how much he enjoys sharing his good stuff -- his special occasion alcohol, his new toys, his innovations. Not everybody gives that freely.

That is so sweet. So sweet. I love the little things that get noticed unconsciously and sometimes consciously too.

May I borrow this idea from you? As you know, we both share the same anniv. date and its going to be 10 years for us. :)

Tara -- Yes, of course. I nearly mentioned that you guys shared the date with us before deciding that it was your info to share. Looking forward to your posts.

Hmm, may take this up too at some point if you don't mind. And where do you get soft jute slippers? They sound nice.

I am in the mood to kill mine

U -- Feel free. Vicky's slippers are from a bazaar in Shimla.

Sraikh -- The hardest part of this exercise as I foresee it will not be finding something positive to say when I'm in a mood like yours: it will be not making fun of him no matter what my mood. *sigh*

Tis the season to be generous. By the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes!

I am wondering what they have put in our cauldrons that we write kindly about those who irk us so? I have just finished writing something complimentary yesterday afternoon. Most mysterious!!

Aneela -- I chortled my way through your post. I guess we do have a generous sliver or two in us somewhere. ;)

Banno -- Thank you. :)

Evie -- If you find yourself reading something you've never heard me say before then I will know that I truly put him down more than I praise him!

Lakshmi -- Sure, have fun. And congratulations.

R's Mom -- LOL If you're only doing 10 days then you better do two a day!

Dipali -- :)

I have no idea why you did not get into my blog links in those days? Have been meaning to link up to so many new people , but never get round to it, and I miss so many nice posts.
Had been reading thru your thingies and liking them all.. only got to the original one now.
Ours is next week. I figure a thingie can be managed for at least 5 days, huh? ;-) Lovely idea, Suey.

Hey Sue, Btw, Happy anniversary.

I have spent a month thinking what to write :D. I have just been waiting for a good time when I feel generous & romantic to churn out a post for the anniversary ..hasn't happened in the past 5 years ... but have promised myself I will do one to mark this one.

Gayatri -- I think it's Vicky who would run out of lines. Praise is not his thing in general.

Beqesh -- And you're still my supuribhora paan, so it's all good.

Unmana -- Do. :)

JLT -- LOL Yeah I think you could scrape up five nice things if you thought a bit. :P

Sunita -- Wow, hi, it's been so long! Congratulations on the anniversary. Write him a nice one-liner, go on, that's doable, right?
