I dare not agree!

Both Vicky and I have a bunch of cousins of what is deemed 'marriageable age'. So I tend to have a lot of conversations about marriage and its requirements and their requirements with both my mother and my mother-in-law. One such phone conversation recently was going very well, I thought, as I nodded and agreed with most of what the mother-in-law said. She was talking about a prospective 'boy' and how eminently eligible he was because of, oh, the usual reasons.

Then she said, "And you have to consider, he has no mother. Having no mother-in-law to be bossed around by can only be a good thing..."

What makes her such a delightful person to know is that she says something like this with not the slightest sense of irony to her own daughter-in-law!

- The female gene in her must have made her blurt that bit out :)
- I bet she must be wondering why she said it when she 'replays' the talks she had with u in her head :b
- Aneela - 2 R's Mom - 1 that totals to 3 MILs who have no scope in the K series ....the end :D

Aneela -- LOL Not her. She has her moments but this was much too endearing to be telly soapish.

R's Mom -- Very!

Gayatri -- She didn't blurt it out, you know, just mentioned it along with all the other good things about the 'boy'. I don't think she even realised I started to laugh at that point!

LOL! This is sweet, though I must admit that if it came from my MOL, I'd be tres suspicious! What used to annoy me is that if I ever gave her examples of nasty DILS and then (once) I joked about how I was an angel compared to them, I was told "You are nice because WE are nice to you". And YOU know enough to know that ain't true (the latter part of the statement, I mean) :D:D

LOL - add my MIL to the gooduns list! Never an issue in 17 years :) (touch wood!)

Cee -- LOL If you served them as they serve you... let me leave that unsaid. In my case though this was just one of those cute moments.

M -- Now that is a nice thing to hear. My mother-in-law and I don't have a great deal in common and we did fight a lot once but now we more or less get along, touchwood!

hehe! abs LOVE the irony! :)

my MiL is excellent till you keep agreeing with her! :p i dont care much for arguments so we get along fine! ;)

and you MiLs comment is why i LOVE this story, where a mother who has a son and a daughter is talking to her friend. she tell her "my daughter is very lucky! her hubby makes her bed tea, helps her clean the house and cook even! But my poor son! his wife makes him make her tea. and pick up his own clothes and even makes him cook!"

If you'd been talking face to face I bet it would have been hard to control your giggles:)
