Happy Fourth Birthday, Rahul!

At the moment this post goes up I'll be thinking of the same moment in time, four years earlier, when a beautiful little boy was born.

At the time of writing that ex-infant is busily making faces at insects sent to him as a birthday 'geef' by Aunty Ro. The centipedes are fighting the 'shaNrk' his dad got him yesterday, you see. He's also admiring the 'gragunflaai' and wondering how best to sneak away from the breakfast I will no doubt thrust upon him any time now.

He's not yet used to the idea of birthdays being 'do as you like' days. Long may it last!

'Bondoos' (friends) and doting grandparents are due to invade the house in a couple of hours. We'll see you on the other side of a very buggy party. In the meantime, here he is, not quite four years old and walking through a dense forest in the hills of Meghalaya, discovering mushrooms and insects and bowl-like ferns aplenty. His long, long walk was rewarded by this, his very own little waterfall.

Happy Birthday Rahul! Hope he had a wonderful birthday party. Post some pics of the party and the (what was it, a caterpillar?) cake on your blog (I'm sure you've already thought of that, but just making sure :)).

Hi S,

Have to say this before I wish the little one a belated happy birthday (he shares it with my husband!).
I met your handwriting before I meet you: in the B&B guesthouse register of guests (Guwahati). I stayed there a few days after you did.
Also the S Roy Neogi (Jr.) :)

Now to meet in 'real' life whatever and whenever that is!

Love.

Everybody -- Thank you so much for the wishes. He had a mad party complete with a caterpillar cake. I shall post the pictures this week, I hope, Padma. Life's been a bit busy all last week. Rahul just left for Vizag and he's off for the month so I tried to spend all my free time with him as far as I could.

Shrabonti -- Rahul insists he's five. Not because he wants to grow up fast (he doesn't) but because he likes the number more than four.

Ro -- I didn't flunk but yes, I only just passed. :P

Kaichu -- Thanks :)

AA_Mom -- So they are. I hadn't made the connection either. :)

Ana -- He doesn't welcome unsolicited hugs from me either. Always been like that, the weird kid.

Sumana -- That would be Vicky's handwriting, actually. Mine is a shade smaller and possibly a little more feminine. But not all that different. Pintsize would be S Niyogy Jr although he has been listed in a movie's roll of credits as Sharabh Roy.

Such a coincidence, wasn't it? Perhaps one day we shall indeed meet.

LOL! Rahul has company. I like multiples of fives better than any other numbers and in a crunch I will always choose an even number over an odd one, unless it is 5 or its multiple. :D
