Can't Buy Me Love, Maybe, But It Can Make Me Ever So HAPPY

Passing on from my spoof food posts, have any of you ever seriously contemplated colouring your hair? I don't mean the boring dirty blonde or safe maroon or even the mehendi many of us have done. I mean serious blues and greens and purples. Colours that make you feel alive. Despite V's suggestion I will not add orange to that list. For one thing, it's too close to the dirty blonde that does not suit most Indian skin tones and for another, it will clash with far too many of my clothes. So, for that matter, will purple, but what a glorious colour all the same.

I remember visiting V's place (much before the marriage sometime) and his parents were setting off for a wedding. His mother came home from the parlour downstairs a little upset because they hadn't done her hair the way she liked it. They stuck it out in duck's tails which didn't really do much for her. The X-Men look rarely goes with a conventional saree, if you think about it. Anyway, I fixed that, and while I was re-setting it, I realised she'd let them add streaks of glittery blue mascara. Very discretely, but pretty cool, huh?

I like glittery blues on hair. Also deep pinks and loud purples and warm blonde-browns. But my all-time favourite, which I've been unable to get any parlour to do for me is a dark, blackish, deep-in-the-forest green. Something like this green, but a little more glowing somehow. Awesome. Someday I shall get just that shade and be what my mamas call a very happy camper. Of course, I'll probably have to get new clothes to match. And a new bag. Shoes that colour aren't easy to find either. But I'm sure I can find something in contrasts. It's all about determination really.

Ok you are totally going to kill me for raining on your parade but they usually recommend not getting chemical hair treatments done (straightening/ colouring/ perming) while you are pregnant...

Check out this link http://www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnancy/isitsafeto/colourorpermhairexpert/

Sorry for being such a spoiltsport :(

First sentence of last post. Explain!

And ooh, it just doesn't go with my kinda person, but I'd LOVE to have glitterly blue streaks and just one lop of purple hair curving sleekly down a side of my face. Oooh! (before you make that obvious crack, no, not at the same time, thankyouverymuch.)

And kill yourself over this, Sunne, I have this natural dark red tinge to my hair. Haha! Haha! (are you familiar with the Asrani effect? Haha!)

Well - I want all blue hair after I saw Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind but I cant since I'll be considered a freak! But mascara streaks are an option I can try...

If you're gonna do green hair, make sure you coat your face with chalky white makeup. Then scrub on some red lipstick, put on a crazy grin and -tadah!- The Joker!

Graxf - I know what you're talking about. Streaked my hair a lovely auburn once but it faded to a painful orange-brown. (That's when I burnt it off really short, but that's another story.)

Rohini - It's ok, I figured there'd be something like that. Seems to me there's nothing much I can do these days. Including eat what I like. Was down since Friday with killer tummy upset. Bed-rest and all that.

Rimi - Heh. The Princess does not need to explain herself. Lesson 1, that was.
2 is, I've got over wanting red hair. (Refer reply to Grafxgurl above.) Purple is what I want, or that lovely green.

Chatty - Mascara is always an awesome option. But since it's usually expensive, only invest if you're sure you can wear that colour over and over again.

Srin - Not the anime orange I was thinking of. Doesn't suit my colouring, but it'll look awesome on someone like, say, the Blogger Formerly Known as Priyanka.

Port - As I said to Rohini, determination is there, in spades, but the baby's putting all that on hold. That includes getting my nose re-pierced.

Jay - As a 6 yr-old cousin of mine (who's growing up in Warrington with the awful accent in place) said to V, "You're a meanie! You're the meaniest meanie on earth!" While I'm at it, I will also stick my tongue out at you.

Guess I might have to reconsider my green hair. You're so not ruling in my planet right now...

Rimi - Oh, I mean it. You can try it, if you want to shock the old biddies aorund you some more someday. Who knows, you might even scare them dumb this time.
